Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Accidentally found this gem when almost everything in the old town was closed. We didn’t know it was rated 5 stars until we tried their Ojja and it was daaaamn yummyyy! We checked the map to leave a review to support them, and that’s when we discovered their 5-star rating — no surprise at all! We only had one more day left, and we told the sweet lady (who speaks English very well-so shame that i forgot her name! ) that we would come again before leaving for Algeria. We ordered couscous and definitely loved it! We would have loved to try the Moloukhia, but it wasn’t available at the time. This family run business truly makes you feel at home. The front staff and the cooks were very friendly ,always with bright smiles! I would definitely return to Tunisia just to have a meal here!"
"We wondered through the Tunis Medina and found this little restaurant serving local fare. The serving lady was very friendly and attentive, and explained what the dishes are about . We tried the tuna brik , lamb soup and Kamounia Agneau et Foie - a lamb and liver stew in Tunisian spices. All the dishes were delicious and we enjoyed the experience of dining like a local."
"Wonderful dining experience. This is not a tourist oriented restaurant. Everything is cooked the way it should be. The beef and liver stew was amazing. The complementary entry was also a good surprise. The owner was very friendly and made me some fresh sauce. Highly recommended"
"A very pleasant local restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The chicken and fish soup was delicious, as was the brick. After our meal - an older lady, who was preparing the meals, poured us the tunesian mint tea and gave us little treats. Wonderful place to go, if you want to experience bit of local cuisine and hospitality. :)"
"The sweetest owners. The mother cook. Her daughter serves. The food is amazing and the service so friendly and personal. We got perfect recommendations and felt at home. They made our day perfect."
"We found this restaurant by chance while wandering in the Medina. The family was most friendly and welcoming; we felt as though we were eating in their home! We were so pleased with both the service and cuisine that we returned a second night and were not disappointed. Please enjoy a meal here and note that they are one of the few restaurants open on Sunday!!"
"Wonderful family run restaurant! Was so delicious we went 2 nights in a row. Fish cous cous was delicious, prepared in traditional Tunisian style. Chicken the second night was even more delicious. Spicy Harissa, delicious mint tea at the end of the meal and a warm welcoming environment! Thank you for your hospitality!"
"I had the couscous with lamb. It was delicious, however could have had a bit more lamb. The lamb itself was wonderful, cooked perfectly but lacking in spice/seasoning (could just be my Indian heritage, as I'm used to very flavorful lamb curries). The fat of the lamb and specific cuts used were perfect however, and complemented the couscous very well. The service was excellent, with the owners being very attentive and checking up on me to see if all is well. Price is a bit on the high side for Tunisian standards, but ultimately worth it. It was very quiet when I went there, but I'm guessing it gets busier around dinner time. Oh and the complimentary mint tea was superb, thank you. Recommended"
